EAP membership - How to apply?

All applications for organisational and individual membership within the EAP are checked by the EAP membership committee. This committee consists of two members from the National Umbrella Organisations Committee (NUOC), two members from the European Wide Organisations Commitee (EWOC) and the actual EAP president. The membership committee meets three times a year to discuss the applications.

All applications are subjet to an internal review process:

Individual applications:

1) The EAP headoffice receives your application and checks if there are douments missing
2) Please make sure that you send all documents in English
3) The EAP headoffice sends a copy of your application to each member of the membership committee and to the relevant National Organisation . In case there is no National Organisation in your country, the relevant European Wide Organisation is consulted to give their recommendation.
4) The EAP headoffice will contact you if there are any additional documents needed or any questions are raised by the members of the membership committee
5) The membership committee votes for your acceptance at one of its meetings
6) The EAP headoffice sends a welcome letter to you in case of acceptance or informs you about any other documents needed

EAP individual members have the possibility to discuss at the meeting of the Chamber of Individual members which takes place before the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The chair of this chamber is a member of the EAP Executive and Board and speaks and votes on behalf of the individual members. Individual members are more than welcome to participate in any EAP Board meeting as observers. The EAP headoffice sends out an information package to all members about 4 weeks before the coming Annual General Meeting (AGM) with an overview about the developments over the previous year and an outlook to future projects. You will be informed about all points on the agenda of the AGM in detail by this mailing.
EAP individual members benefit from a free subsciption of the International Journal for Psychotherapy (www.ijp.org.uk). The EAP headoffice sends out relevant information about psychotherapy in Europe and the EAP newsletter by e-mail on a regular basis,

Organisational applications

1. The EAP headoffice receives your organisation´s application and checks if there are documents missing
2. Please make sure that all documents are sent in English
3. The EAP headoffice sends a copy of the application to each member of the membership committee, to the relevant National Umbrella Organisation and the European Wide Organistion representing your modality in Europe.
4. The EAP headoffice will contact you if there are any additional documents needed or any questions are raised by the members of the membership committee5. The membership committee votes for your acceptance at one of its meetings
6. The EAP headoffice sends a welcome letter to you in case of acceptance or informs you about any other documents needed

Organisational members are invited to participate in the EAP Board meetings as observers and have voting rights at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). According to the EAP Statutes the number of votes are proportional to the number of your paying members and varies from 1 to 15 votes. The EAP headoffice sends out an information package to all members about 4 weeks before the coming Annual General Meeting (AGM) with an overview about the developments over the previous year and an outlook to future projects. You will be informed about all points on the agenda of the AGM in detail by this mailing.
EAP organistaional members benefit from a free subsciption of the International Journal for Psychotherapy (www.ijp.org.uk). The EAP headoffice sends out relevant information about psychotherapy in Europe and the EAP newsletter by e-mail on a regular basis.

Affiliated members

The EAP offers affiliated membership to persons or organisations who have an interest in psychotherapy and would like to receive information about the latest developments on a regular basis but do not fulfil the criteria for full EAP membership. Affiliated members are invited to participate in EAP Board meetings but have no voting rights.

Please fill in the forms "EAP membership / General" and the "EAP membership for Individuals" or "EAP membership for Organisations" and sign the "Strasbourg Declaration on Psychotherapy" and send these three documents to the EAP headoffice.
